Grey Phalarope: Holt - Sept 2011

This first-winter Grey Phalarope was discovered at Holt by Terry Norledge while searching for the resident Mandarin Ducks. It was present on September 13th and 14th, following a period of strong westerly winds and showed extremely well to a procession of grateful observers. It constitutes the first confirmed record for the locality although there is a record of a phalarope sp on the nearby River Severn on an unrecorded date in October 1990.
